I was just looking @ the wiki for Thomas Pridgen which states that he played with the Mars Volta from Oct 31 2006 to Oct 23th 2009. As of December 2009 the band has still made no official statement, however, in their most recent shows they have been performing with drummer Dave Elitch.(wiki)

This pretty much answers the first post I made on this page when I saw them driving off in their tour bus and had no fucking answer as to why they were not playing.

I saw them in Charlotte the night before, and while they played miraculously, and I had a great time, cedric was very obviously struggling vocally. And when he was talking in between songs, he sounded very scratchy and stuffy. Maybe a bad cold, maybe flu symptoms, who knows. But after seeing the Charlotte show, I can definitely see how he may not have been feeling up to singing the next night. While it does suck for the people who had tockets to the Charlotte show, would you not want the members of one of your favorite bands to be healthy so they can be around next year to come back around on tour? Similar situation happened for me with the Smashing Pumpkins two years ago (or maybe last year). we got to the hotel, checked in, called the venue to verify when doors opened, and were informed they just cancelled. I was definitely bummed. My wife and I just drove 5 hours to atlanta to go to the mall, for christ's sake, but you gotta understand if someone is ill, they have to take the time to get better so they can continue on. Health is more important than anything in my mind, even more important than playing for devoted fans, and "fans" that turn on you the minute you cancel a show or put out a record that is different than the last one.

10 hours, $100+ dollars, 800 miles, yeah fuck you too mars volta!

i love you guys but damn that sucks. canceling the show last minute like that! we waited all year for a show close enough and affordable enough; only to get canceled on. not a good way to treat your loyal fans!

i love you and will always love you. i understand band life isn't always fun, but suck it up for us, the fans, the ones who pay your bills.

let's all hope they repay us for this tragedy and have a make up show.

I drove 10hrs to see this. this is only because they didn't come to florida this time like they did last tour and it was the only way i could see them... I'm so sad... I'm the crazy guy in the video saying i was "glad" they didn't come. F%^king 10 hours!!! and drove home the next day... no volta... man well if there is a make up show i hope you could do one in florida too... i dont know if i can make the ten hour trip from tampa to raleigh again.... the sick thing was i saw them sitting there around 4 outside their bus... but apparently the show had been canceled since 2:30pm... even worse i told my friend to buy a ticket, this was at 2pm. he called bought a tivket and he drove 4hrs from asheville to see them.

My boyfriend and I are beyond disappointed that the show was cancelled. Hope all is well with the band ...

So you guys know, while there is no official confirmation, it seems that Thomas Pridgen was fired during the sound check. I am not going to recount the 40 pages or so of info from the Comatorium, but there you go.

I concur with most comments below regarding the Raleigh, NC show cancellation. I was there; along with about 12 other fans, at 3:15pm, and the band had been setting up for the show and soundcheck. So, it was quite a shock to have event staff tell us around 3:45pm that the show was suddenly cancelled with no explanation as to why. I've been wanting to see The Mars Volta live for several years, but couldn't for various conflicts. And now, I still don't get to. I hope nothing is seriously wrong for the band, but it would be nice to get an official explanation. This was the last US show, and it should have been spectacular !! It would be nice if the band would send some autographed photos to those of us that went to such great effort to see and support the band. Thanks for reading...

I've never seen mars volta live before and was excited at the thought of seeing them in a relatively small venue. I feel even worse for the dedicated fans who drove numerous hours and spent money on hotel rooms. It is quite a let down, especially to suddenly cancel on such short notice. Hopefully everyone and everything is okay, but some sort of explanation or compensation should be issued. I know we get our money back for the tickets, time, however, cannot be refunded.

Times before....the cd did not make it past time one time around! it had been nearly a week...un til i took it out! wednesday!.....thursday i woke up with diarheaa.....today i was nautious.....only thing that kept me goin was the fact that the marsvolta was gonna play a show!...first show was like a year or so ago in myrtle beach....i never thought i would ever see the marvolta in concert....i almost shed a few tears and quite posssible some may have come out....any who....my night got flipped turned upside down....if you guy are in raleigh im sure we could find some thing crazy to do!you got my email address....i wanna hear something that isnt in my car!!!!!

Thomas, I play the drums, shittily (if thats a word), but you inspire me to become better and I wanted to see the clear kit live. Ikey, my buddy has the Viscera Eyes as his "Shaft" theme song and wanted to see you jammin like the Yahoo video was showing! Both of you provide a distinct sound and quality that no other artist could match. Janes addiction was always my favorite band until you guys came out with Deloused. Since then I have always had you guys on my Ipod playing and have turned many people in South Carolina onto your music...Which they cant believe is so detailed, to the point that each song conjures a jouney in their mind. What happened, we drove 4 hours and got a hotel room, I left a pregnant wife with our 11 month old son and left work early....caught alot of shit for that... and called before I left Columbia, S.C. to see if the show was cancelled, NO it was not. It wasn't until we drove up to the Disco Rodeo and saw the tour bus leaving that we heard it was cancelled. This sucks.
