TICKETS ON SALE 9.00AM MONDAY 16 NOVEMBER!!!
Strap yourself in, hold on, and feel free to scream. Few musical experiences match the roller coaster ride that is THE MARS VOLTA, and in 2010, they'll loop the loop in Australia for the fourth time. You love THE MARS VOLTA? Here's three last chances to feel the thrill.
Since emerging from the ashes of El Paso's lauded and lamented At the Drive-In (who also played BIG DAY OUT way back when) in 2001, composer and guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and incredibly dexterous vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala have followed their muse in whichever direction it takes them; so far the journey has been the ride of the creative lifetime.
"Some of the most experimental, technically mind-blowing and original music being released today. What THE MARS VOLTA do at a show is more than just play songs… the band takes you on a journey that is all at once uplifting, wild, shameless and self-indulgent." (Beat, July 2008)
Their fifth album, Octahedron, takes all the energy, all of the furious invention that has characterized THE MARS VOLTA’s music so far, and distills it with a clarity they’ve never before achieved. "There's still plenty of room for boundary-breaking," said FasterLouder, "but it’s the quieter, more harmony-filled moments that truly establish Octahedron as a bold step forward for a duo who are always miles in front."
The sound may be less aggressive than 2008’s The Bedlam in Goliath, but touring with a pared-down six-piece line-up of Bixler-Zavala, Rodriguez-Lopez, bassist Juan Alderete, keyboardist Isaiah Ikey Owens, Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez on percussion and synths, and drummer Thomas Pridgen, THE MARS VOLTA are still blistering, ferocious, and set the stage alight like no other.
"THE MARS VOLTA practically exploded onto the stage, rousing the crowd from the first hyperactive guitar chords and terrifying drum rhythms. Rodriguez-Lopez and Bixler-Zavala are the ultimate showmen." (The Independent, July 2009)
"The only objective, throughout, has been to always move forward," says Rodriguez-Lopez. "To always make the next album sound different to the one that came before it, to always be evolving." The latest step in the evolution of THE MARS VOLTA will be on show in Australia this summer.

I am so happy to get the information about my favorite band Mars Volta upcoming concert. It is one of my favorite band. Just love to listen their songs. Their songs are superb. Last time, I couldn't go to the concert of Mars Volta because I couldn't get the ticket. I was so frustrated at that time. This time, I don't want to miss the opportunity to see them performing live in the stage in Australia. Therefore, I will not delay buying the ticket. I am so excited about the concert.
It’s a nice detailed posting keep submitting more like thin in the future.
Vengan a centroamerica porfavor!! Come to El Salvadorr!! please!
Hi, I would just like to tell the Mars Volta that if they would have a sideshow in Perth for once then I would take out a house loan for $750,000 and spend it all at the show. PLEAS COME TO PERTH MORE OFTEN, MARS VOLTA AND TOOL AND COG ARE THE ONLY THREE BANDS WORTH LISTENING TO!!! Good work on Old Money Omar, those gosh darn bilderbergers are a nuisance aren't they?
Thomas really is a powerhouse, it's a shame to see him go, if such is the case. Personally, though, I'd like to see them get back with Jon Theodore, the interplay they had with that guy on de-loused and Frances was amazing on a different level - all the dynamic contrast, the risky time signatures - everything the Mars Volta is good at, Jon complemented in a complex, yet tasteful way. Not to belittle Pridgeon, he's still a badass, but Jon Theodore is more of a badass.
I was just looking @ the wiki for Thomas Pridgen which states that he played with the Mars Volta from Oct 31 2006 to Oct 23th 2009. As of December 2009 the band has still made no official statement, however, in their most recent shows they have been performing with drummer Dave Elitch.(wiki)
This pretty much answers the first post I made on this page when I saw them driving off in their tour bus and had no fucking answer as to why they were not playing.
Way to go guys......Thanks for no statements, pics or shirts
Yes he is good for Volta, Thomas is a badass....Good for whoever he plays with.
no hablo como ustedes,,si puedo decir , extrañamos a jon , esperamous q algun dia vuelva,, muy bueno pridgen , pero no es para volta.
I know this may be a long shot, but way up here in Anchorage, Alaska resides one of your biggest fans along with many others. I work for a company called Moose's Tooth Pub and our Bear Tooth theater brings many large music acts to perform our 1st taps, anniversaries, and new years type parties which have been doing so for 12 years now. Our company takes very well care of the bands and damn would it be great to see ya up here even if you had another venue in mind. Saw my first show in Milan, Italy and was floored.... Will still travel to the west coast or midwest to see future performances; you guys continue to be my ultimate favorite. Thanks Mars Volta!!!

"it makes it sound like the band is breaking up"
It does and they know it. I wouldn't be surprised if they did. There's something in the air. I've had that feeling for some time now. Well, if they do, my heart will be bleeding.
Play L.A. in early Jan... This is your Muse speaking..
And the rest of L.A. is always a pimp ass crowd too..
Come to Virginia Beach any time in the next year. I saw you guys open for System of a Down like 6 years ago but i have become VOLTANEMIC.
